8 Weeks now…and growing

and Erica is starting to show sign of growth in all the right places. Her belly is starting to show a wee bit and she loves to show it off to anyone who happens to be walking by, I swear she even tries to pull people off the street to take a gander. Anyhow the best part is that my favorite parts  are certainly growing.

Hooray, KE is now 6 weeks old.

KE is starting to take hold now. On the verge of queasy all the time, and apparently this is good as it means Hormones are flowing and KE is starting to seetle into his lil’ den. Right now his little heart (which is starting to divide into the right and left chambers) is beating about 100 to 130 beats per minute — almost twice as fast as ours — and blood is beginning to circulate through his body. WOW!

Lookout World…here comes KARATE EXPLOSION!

We’re soooo excited, we can barely contain ourselves…

We hope you’ll join us on this journey and we’ll be using this blog to keep family and friends up to date on the goings-on around the newest edition. We have decided his middle name is going to be Karate Explosion or “KE” for short, because that is how the news of his pending arrival burst forth into our lives. :-)

Right now KE is about the size of a chubby little peppercorn, he’s made up of three layers — the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm — that will later form his organs and tissues. His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.)

Stay tuned for more notes as the journey begins…
